Patient Rights

It is important that you understand your rights as a patient. Here are the key rights you have:

To receive high quality care appropriate to patient needs and consistent with the scope of service of the hospital.
To receive considerate care regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs or age.
To know the name of the physician who has the primary responsibility of coordinating care.
To get complete information to understand the diagnosis, condition, risk of each treatment and its outcomes and necessary care to be taken after discharge from hospital.
To give or withhold consent for any proposed treatment like surgery, anaesthesia, blood transfusion etc.
To know all treatment options and participate in decisions related to acceptance or refusal of treatment.
To access his or her medical records when required and gain privacy and confidentiality of the medical care rendered.
To get protected from neglect and abuse.
To be informed about any research activities in the hospital where the patient is involved and has the right to refuse to be a part of the study.
To seek second opinion regarding clinical care within or outside the organization.
To receive counselling regarding the estimated cost of treatment and payment schedule at the time of admission as and when required.
To express concerns, complaints, or grievance on services through Public Relation Office.
Patients and family rights include respecting values and beliefs any special preferences and cultural needs.
Patient and family rights include the refusal of treatment.
Patient and families have a right to information and education about their healthcare needs.
Patient and family rights include respect for personal dignity and privacy during examination, procedures, and treatment.
Patient rights include determining what information regarding their care would be provided to self and family.

Patient Responsibilities

As a patient, you also have certain responsibilities to ensure effective treatment and care:

To provide complete and accurate information on demographic details as well as ECHS, insurance details wherever necessary.
Treat hospital staff, other patients, and visitors with courtesy and respect.
Refrain from activities that may disrupt the functioning of the hospital
Abide by all hospital rules and regulations.
No Smoking policy should be followed and use of alcohol, unauthorized drugs and weapons are strictly prohibited in hospital premises.
Follow the prescribed treatment plan recommended by the physicians and other health care providers in attending physician's team
Provide complete and accurate history and information about your health, including present condition, past illness, hospitalizations, medications or any other matter that pertains to your health.
Accept financial responsibilities and settle your bills promptly.
Patient is responsible for their own belongings. Leave valuables at home during the hospital stay as the hospital will not be responsible for the damage or loss.
Patient when discharged should vacate the room as early as possible.
Bystanders should produce the stay pass, when demanded by the concerned authorities.
Usage of water, electricity and other resources should be limited.
Strictly follow visiting hours and visiting formalities of the hospital.

ജാതി, മതം, പ്രായം, വർഗ്ഗം, ലിംഗഭേദം തുടങ്ങിയ വിവേചനങ്ങൾക്ക് അതീതമായി മികച്ച പരിചരണം.
ചികിത്സയ്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം വഹിക്കുന്ന ഡോക്ടറുടെ പേര് അറിയുക.
രോഗാവസ്ഥയെക്കുറിച്ചും, ചികിത്സാനന്തര ഫലങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും, ഓരോ ചികിത്സയുടെയും പാർശ്വഫലങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും, ഡിസ്ചാർജ്ജ് ആയതിനുശേഷം തുടരേ ചികിത്സാ വിധികളെക്കുറിച്ചും ശരിയായ അറിവ് ലഭിക്കുക.
സർജറി, അനസ്തേഷ്യ, രക്തം സ്വീകരിക്കൽ മുതലായ പ്രക്രിയകൾക്ക് അനുമതി നൽകാനോ അവ നിഷേധിക്കുവാനോ ഉള്ള അവകാശം.
വ്യത്യസ്ത ചികിത്സാ മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ശരിയായ അറിവ് നേടാനും, ചികിത്സ സ്വീകരിക്കണോ, നിഷേധിക്കണോ എന്ന തീരുമാനത്തിൽ എത്തുവാനുള്ള അവകാശം.
ചികിത്സാ രേഖകളുടെ പകർപ്പ് ആവശ്യമെങ്കിൽ കൈപ്പറ്റുക, ചികിത്സാ രേഖകൾ സ്വകാര്യതയോടെയും, സുരക്ഷിതത്വത്തോടെയും സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുക.
അവഗണനയിൽ നിന്നും, ദുരുപയോഗത്തിൽ നിന്നും സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുക.
രോഗി ഏതെങ്കിലും റിസേർച്ചിൽ ഭാഗമായിട്ടുയിൽ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് വ്യക്തമായ അറിവു ലഭിക്കുക, ആവശ്യമെങ്കിൽ പഠനത്തിൻ്റെ ഭാഗമാകുന്നത് നിഷേധിക്കാം.
ആശുപത്രിയിലെ മറ്റ് ഡോക്ടേഴ്സിൽ നിന്നോ ഇതര ആശുപത്രിയിൽ നിന്നോ ചികിത്സ സംബന്ധിച്ച വിദഗ്ധ അഭിപ്രായം തേടുക.
പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ചികിത്സാ ചെലവുകളെക്കുറിച്ചും, പണം അടയ്ക്കേണ്ട ക്രമങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും അഡ്മിഷനു മുൻപേ മുൻകൂട്ടി അറിയുക, പിന്നീട് നിശ്ചിത ഇടവേളകളിൽ അറിവ് ലഭിക്കുക.
സേവനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പരാതികൾ, നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ, അഭിപ്രായങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ പബ്ലിക് റിലേഷൻ ഓഫീസ് വഴി സ്വതന്ത്രമായി നൽകുക.

രോഗിയുടെയും കുടുംബത്തിൻ്റെയും അവകാശങ്ങളിൽ ചികിത്സ നിരസിക്കൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
രോഗിയുടെ അവകാശങ്ങളിൽ അവരുടെ പരിചരണവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട വിവരങ്ങൾ തനിക്കും കുടുംബത്തിനും നൽകണമെന്ന് ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
രോഗിയുടെയും കുടുംബത്തിൻ്റെയും അവകാശങ്ങളിൽ പരിശോധന, നടപടിക്രമങ്ങൾ, ചികിത്സ എന്നിവക്കിടയിലുള്ള വ്യക്തിപരമായ അന്തസ്സും സ്വകാര്യാതയും ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്നു
പരിചരണവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഏത് വിവരങ്ങൾ തനിക്കും കുടുംബത്തിനും നൽകണം എന്നത് തീരുമാനിക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം രോഗിക്ക് ഉണ്ട്.

രോഗിയുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്തങ്ങൾ

ആശുപത്രി അധികൃതർ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്ന പക്ഷം കൃത്യമായ പേരും മേൽവിലാസവും, ഇ.സി.എച്ച്.എസ് ഇൻഷുറൻസ് എന്നിവ സംബന്ധിച്ച വ്യക്തമായ വിവരങ്ങളും കൈമാറുക.
ആശുപത്രി സ്റ്റാഫിനോടും മറ്റു രോഗികളോടും മാന്യമായും ബഹുമാനത്തോടു കൂടിയും പെരുമാറുക.
ആശുപത്രിയുടെ സുഗമമായ പ്രവർത്തനത്തെ തടസ്സപ്പെടുത്താതിരിക്കുക.
ആശുപത്രിയുടെ നിയമങ്ങളും നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങളും അംഗീകരിക്കുക.
ആശുപത്രിയിലും പരിസരത്തും പുകവലി, മദ്യപാനം എന്നിവ ഒഴിവാക്കുകയും, മയക്കുമരുന്ന് ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾ, ആയുധങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടുവരാതെയും ഇരിക്കുക.
ഡോക്ടർ നൽകുന്ന ചികിത്സാവിധികൾ പാലിക്കുകയും. ഡോക്ടറുടെ കീഴിലുള്ള ടീമിലെ മറ്റ് അംഗങ്ങളുടെ നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക.
രോഗിയുടെ ആരോഗ്യപരമായ എല്ലാ വിവരങ്ങളും അതായത് ഇപ്പോഴുള്ള രോഗം, മുൻ ചികിത്സകൾ, ആശുപത്രിവാസം എന്നിവ കൃത്യമായി നൽകുക.
ആശുപത്രിയിലെ ചികിത്സാ ചെലവുകൾ കൃത്യമായി അടയ്ക്കുക.
വില കൂടിയ വസ്തുക്കൾ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരാതെ വീട്ടിൽ തന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക. ഏതെങ്കിലും വസ്തുക്കൾ ആശുപത്രിവാസത്തിനിടയിൽ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടാൽ ആശുപത്രിക്ക് ഉത്തരവാദിത്തമുണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയില്ല.
രോഗി ഡിസ്ചാർജ്ജ് ആയാൽ എത്രയും വേഗം മുറി ഒഴിഞ്ഞു കൊടുക്കുക.
ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട അധികാരികൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുമ്പോഴെല്ലാം രോഗിയുടെ കൂടെ നിൽക്കുന്നവർ സ്റ്റേ പാസ് കാണിക്കുക.
ജലം, വൈദ്യുതി എന്നിവ മിതമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുക.
സന്ദർശന സമയം, സന്ദർശനവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ കൃത്യമായി പാലിക്കുക.
